TOMRA Sorting Recycling has unveiled a ground-breaking new generation of its TITECH finder sensor-based metal sorting system at IFAT Entsorga.

05 May 2014

Being demonstrated on the TOMRA Sorting Recycling stand, the new TITECH finder features the company’s proprietary DEEP DATA technology. This latest innovation allows the collection, processing and analysis of multiple metal object data in every single moment.

DEEP DATA has been combined with TOMRA Sorting Recycling’s existing SUPPIXX® image processing technology which enhances electromagnetic sensor resolution and allows greater recognition accuracy.

Intelligent object recognition

Operating in unison these two technologies enable intelligent object recognition by identifying the smallest differences in terms of the metal fraction’s shape, size and intensity. This allows the new generation TITECH finder to provide new sorting criteria for improving different sorting tasks such as wire recovery.

Working in conjunction with a series of newly designed high precision valves on the TITECH finder system, DEEP DATA enables the valves to be controlled with more precision than ever before. As the valves have twice the resolution of their predecessor, increased ejection accuracy and an improvement of product purity of between 5-15 per cent is achieved.

By continually monitoring the whole of the conveyor belt and checking for permanent metal inclusions, the TITECH finder facilitates open process control and reduces misfires whilst optimizing product quality and the stability of the sorting process.

Most effective and efficient sensor-based sorting systems

Speaking about this latest innovation, Ines Hartwig, TOMRA Sorting Recycling’s product manager, said: “Our objective is to continually innovate to provide the global recycling industry with the most effective and efficient sensor-based sorting systems. By introducing DEEP DATA and combining it with our existing SUPPIXX® technology to allow collection, processing and analysis in every single moment, we have done just that. IFAT provides us with the ideal opportunity to launch our new generation TITECH finder to the world and show how it can be used to improve profitability by enhancing product purity and reducing operating costs.”
