The global pioneer in sensor-based sorting systems has promoted Brian Gist to the newly created position of Sales Director, Metal whilst his colleague, Frank van de Winkel, has been appointed Business Development Manager, Metal.

Both will be responsible for spearheading TOMRA Sorting’s worldwide metal recycling growth plans. The company’s machines are currently responsible for recovering approximately 715,000 tons of metal globally each year.

Commenting on the appointments, Head of TOMRA Sorting Recycling, Tom Eng, said: “We already have a strong presence within the global metal recycling industry and want to build upon this success.”

Greater focus to evolve applications and services within metal recycling

“Brian and Frank give us even greater focus and will allow us to further evolve our applications and services within metal recycling. They are both outstanding professionals with the ability to manage relationships, lead teams and innovate. We are looking forward to seeing them drive our business forward within metal recycling.”

Brian joined TOMRA Sorting Recycling’s UK-based company as a Sales Engineer in 2007 having spent 17 years working in the metal recycling industry for SIMS and Allied Steel & Wire. Brian’s success in the UK saw him lead a number of strategically important projects for TOMRA Sorting Recycling before taking up this current role.

Frank started his career as an engineer with CommoDaS GmbH, a TOMRA Sorting company, in 2005. Since then he has held variety of roles within the business, including heading the company’s metal recycling test center for two years and specializing in metal recycling with responsibility for the North American metal market as a Sales Engineer.
