Software Engineer

The Software Engineer will design, develop and maintain the software that controls the sorting functionality of TOMRA Sorting Machines. This includes algorithms for image processing, data processing, user interface and user experience software. The software engineer will able to function as member of an agile team and interact with engineers of other engineering disciplines like electrical design, hardware design etc.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Use your technical expertise to guide and drive the development of new data analytics and AI solutions through the collection, analysis and refinement of new and existing data sources
  • Contribute to steering and shaping new developments in Tomra Food Analytics and AI in terms of technologies used and new approaches/methods taken
  • Work with key stakeholders (internal & external) to deliver data centric R&D products
  • Research new technologies and methods across data science, data engineering and data visualisation to improve the technical capabilities of the team.
  • Prepared to travel sporadically both to other TOMRA sites or customers’ sites
  • Become an expert in Tomra Food products

    Skills and abilities:

  • Proven proficiency with several machine-learning related tools, application programming languages and frameworks (Python, R, SQL)
  • Ability to extract meaningful business insights from data and identify the stories behind the patterns
  • Experience with image processing a plus
  • Experience with the MS Azure toolchain and framework for Data Science a plus
  • Experience in standards, methods and best practice for Advanced Analytics Development and solutions quality
  • Experience with code revision control (GIT)
  • Curiosity and passion for Data Science
  • Good communication skills, self-motivated, creative and collaborative
  •  

    Education:

    Master or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics
