Sales and Application Engineer

We are seeking a dynamic, dedicated, and technically savvy Sales and Application Support Engineer to be part of our Sales and Service Team with TOMRA. As a Sales and Application Engineer, under the general direction of the Applications Manager and the Global Test & Demo Manager, you’ll be responsible for ensuring our equipment and demo area is setup and optimized for product test runs and customer demonstrations. You will collaborate with the sales team to promote the sale of company products and will be responsible for demonstration of machines. This position will provide support on applications and technical support to internal operations and functions and customers.

Roles and Responsibilities: Sales and Application Engineer

  • Assists the Area Sales Managers and the customer in determining how our machines will meet the customer’s needs
  • Ability to demonstrate machinery in front of customers during sales presentations
  • Sets up and/or designs and builds tests to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of machines
  • Provides technical support related to specification changes
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of both the demo hall and the test & demo machines
  • Maintain the demo hall, keeping it customer-ready and the machines in optimal working order
  • Occasional travel for service visits with Field Service Engineers and customer visits with Area Sales Managers to ensure understanding of customer challenges
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Candidate profile:

  • 3 – 5 years industry work experience
  • Ability to communicate with the Area Sales Managers, agents, customers and management
  • Outstanding commercial and consultation skills
  • Mechanical, electrical and applications aptitude is required
  • High tolerance for working under stressful conditions
  • Must have a high level of self-confidence, but must also be willing to ask for help
  • Autonomous disposition, need for minimal supervision, ability to work independently
  • Ability to develop training material, customer presentations, and conduct training classes
  • Understanding of the food processing industry is a plus


  • B.S. in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or General Engineering is preferred

Other skills/abilities:

  • Exceptional demonstrated teamwork skills are critical
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required
  • Must be able to learn quickly and think on their feet
  • A valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Ability to pass Tomra’s pre-employment screening
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
