TOMRA Sorting Solutions is a global market leader in sensor-based sorting solutions. Our technology is applied in the recycling, mining and food industries under the product names Titech, CommodasUltrasort, Odenberg and BEST. At present about 825 employees work at our various TOMRA Sorting Solutions facilities worldwide. In order to sustain our growth professionally, we are looking to add a new member to our development team in Mülheim-Kärlich/Germany.

Department:      Core R&D

Reports to:         Technical Manager (in Mülheim-Kärlich)

Position Overview         

•    Development, optimization, documentation and maintenance of new and existing sensor based sorting and analysis systems

•    Involvement in training of colleagues from service and production department

•    Work in a dynamic project team

•    Some travelling will be required

Roles and Responsibilities:        

•    Software development and test of sensor based sorting machines

•    Optimize and verify existing software

•    Produce technical documentation

•    Work in close cooperation with the other software development teams

•    Cross link to other departments (electrical design, service and production)

•    Give support to colleagues from service and production department

•    Contribute ideas about improvement possibilities (quality/ efficiency)

Candidate profile:          

•    Excellent programming skills in C++

•    Software engineering skills

•    Solid understanding of interfaces between hardware and software

•    Good English skills spoken and written

•    Good skills in image processing and pattern recognition are of advantage

Education:         

•    Requires an excellent Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field

•    Masters of Science or PhD preferred

Other skills/abilities:    

•    Distinct willingness to cooperate and work in a team

•    Good communication skills

•    Cross-cultural competence

•    Excellent technical problem-solving, troubleshooting, and follow-up skills

•    Organized, detail-oriented and able to break-down work

•    Self-motivated and disciplined
