TOMRA wins innovation accolade at European Business Awards

TOMRA has won an innovation award at the grand finale of Europe's largest business competition, the prestigious European Business Awards.

The company received the Award for Innovation with Turnover of €150m+ at an exclusive ceremony held in Warsaw, Poland. According to judges, this recognises TOMRA’s “proven ability to create, nurture and develop innovations that substantially improve its commercial performance, operational effectiveness or prospects by bringing benefit to the organisation, its customers and other stakeholders.”

TOMRA was founded on an innovation in 1972 that began with the design, manufacturing and sale of reverse vending machines for automated collection of used beverage containers. Today TOMRA provides technology-led solutions that enable the circular economy with advanced collection and sorting systems that optimize resource recovery and minimize waste in the food, recycling and mining industries.

Overall 150,000 business from 33 countries were initially shortlisted for an award, before independent judging saw 2,750 businesses shortlisted and then around 360 announced as national winners in September.

This is the third time TOMRA has won the prestigious European Business Awards, the first which it won in 2015, followed by 2018 and now 2019.
