RDF Refuse Derived Fuel

Refuse-Derived Fuel

We enable the sustainable energy transition through automated sorting systems to deliver high purity refuse-derived fuel.

Intelligent RDF sorting systems

Refuse-derived fuel (RDF) is an alternative energy source produced from municipal, commercial and industrial waste streams. The demand for RDF is growing worldwide to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and landfills. The production requires a high recovery rate for specific materials to ensure a consistent calorific value and high-quality end product.

Today, automated sorting units are an essential component in RDF processing throughout Europe. Advanced sensor-based sorting systems separate non-combustible materials and contaminants (PVC, high chlorine content materials) from the waste stream. Our data-driven software and sensor technology provide real-time calorific, chlorine and water analysis for optimal process control and quality assurance.

Real-time analysis

RDF Refuse Derived Fuel
RDF-based pellet preparation demands reliable quality assurance to meet various end-customer requirements. High throughput and real-time online monitoring of critical values of the waste stream ensures the optimal calorific value, low water content and acceptable chlorine content to produce a consistently high-quality RDF.

Our field-proven RDF technology combines built-in software intelligence and high precision sensors to deliver a multivariate analysis of the combustibility of the waste stream. Costing significantly less than random sample analysis in laboratories, you gain maximum process control and uniform quality to meet even the strictest requirements.

PVC

pvc flakes
Certain plastics such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and other high chlorine content materials are unsuitable for RDF production and must be removed from the material stream. As the demand for secondary raw materials continues to rise, the recovery of recyclable plastics (PET, HDPE, LPDE) presents opportunities for plant operators to create new revenue streams.

Automated sensor-based sorting systems effectively remove PVC and materials that disturb industrial thermal processing. With high-throughput, multifunctional sorting capability, RDF processors benefit from the flexibility to recover recyclable polymers, which can be sold to meet the global market demand for recycled plastics.
