TOMRA Food 4C Machine

TOMRA 4C

AI flexibility. Outstanding performance. Time saved.

Designed for demanding food packers and processors and arriving pre-set, the TOMRA 4C with LUCAi™ delivers total flexibility to use multiple forms of AI simultaneously. Operators have the power to instantly adapt to changing conditions. The 4C food sorting machine delivers outstanding performance of greater than 97% on product defects and foreign materials. A false reject rate of less than 1% greatly minimizes Good-in-Bad – and maximizes your yield.

Available for the nuts and IQF industries.

Outstanding food sorting performance meets a low Total Cost of Ownership

Smoother operations and reductions in downtime?

The 4C drives business results with its low total cost of ownership (TCO). Solid state sensors and LED illumination reduces maintenance and replacement costs. They also help reduce power consumption.

Low TCO can go even further with  an intuitive user interface. Ease of use reduces the amount of time operators need to spend on training – and the time it takes to complete daily processing tasks. An open design and hygienic surface finish empower operators to get cleaning done easily – and quickly!

TOMRA’s long history and expertise in sorting technology benefits your business. We have over 25 years' experience helping food processors deliver the very best quality.

    Total AI flexibility

Use LUCAi™ deep learning or machine learning individually or simultaneously . Operators have the flexibility to choose the optimal AI to solve the issues of the day. If a novel defect appears in a nut harvest, operators can easily use machine learning to “train” the machine and augment the LUCAi™ model.

Less than 1% false reject rate

The 4C delivers outstanding performance on defects and foreign material. Less Good-in-Bad means more sellable product and maximized yield.

    Easy to Clean

A spacious and open design gives operators easy access to the inside of the machine for cleaning. Hygienic design and stainless-steel surfaces reduce time needed for daily cleaning tasks.

    Reduced operators hours required

Designed to reduce the time operators need to complete tasks, the 4C features a TOMRA XCD interface that is common across several TOMRA machines. The common user interface reduces training time and the time needed to complete daily tasks.

Get to know the new TOMRA 4C

The 4C is unique in that it allows operators to use machine learning simultaneously with LUCAi deep learning models. The TOMRA 4C machine learning interface gives operators the tools they need to train the machine and adapt to the local environment. The intuitive interface allows operators to easily identify defects in product images and “train” the machine on good vs bad. This means operators can enjoy the convenience of a pre-trained model while having the ability to augment the model by identifying defects specific to their environment or harvest.

Designed for Industry 4.0, the 4C is ready to help you take your processing line to the next level. The capability to transmit data between the machine and the management and control systems allow you to see the whole picture of your processing line. Reporting, automation, and optimization become a key part of your process.

Rear ejection and small fast-pitch air ejectors deliver incredible precision.

These ejectors are built specifically for nut applications. With a pitch of just 6.25mm, the ejector can target the very center of mass of a defective nut to remove it, without influencing the path of neighbouring nuts.

This ensures you are only rejecting what you want to and maximizing your yield – sort after sort.

The TOMRA 4C is ready to help you succeed today and grow with your business. It’s small footprint and automated hopper make it easy to integrate into an existing line. Optimized product flow and speed adjustability allow it to adapt well to your preferred workflow.

Our proven Pulsed LED sensors enable you to capture the most complete image of an object and detect product defects – even those invisible to the human eye.

When it comes to sorting individually quick frozen (IQF) items, Pulsed LED is the best way to sort out harmful EVM defects, such as stalks and pods. Pulsed LEDs also empower nut processors to effectively sort defects not related to the nut structure, including hulls, stems and sticks.
