Europa-Park is currently running a trial consisting of two TOMRA Tap&Go™ machines. With TOMRA Tap&Go™, guests can return their reusable cups at dedicated return points and receive the deposit directly back to the payment card linked to the purchase. The process is quick, intuitive and designed to fit naturally into a park visit, allowing guests to return a cup before moving on to the next ride, show or restaurant.
For amusement parks, reusable packaging systems need to work in fast-moving, guest-focused environments. Return points must be easy to find, simple to use and integrated into locations where visitors already pause, eat and dispose of waste. Automated deposit refunds can help increase return rates without adding friction to the guest experience.
A knock-on effect at Europa-Park is that the cup return points can support cleaner food court areas. The TOMRA Tap&Go™ machines are placed next to recycling and waste stations for food packaging, plates and cutlery. When guests return their cups to reclaim the deposit, they are also encouraged to dispose of their other meal-related waste at the same time.
