The system is designed as an open system where packaging from different packaging providers can be returned 24/7 to a shared infrastructure of automated collection points throughout a public space (e.g. city spaces, festivals, transport terminals).
High packaging return rates are ensured by making it easy for consumers to return their reusable packaging and receive a direct digital refund of the deposit. Consumers simply tap their payment card or smart phone/watch on one of the dedicated TOMRA Tap&Go™ collection points to start the return process.
Our digital platform manages the deposit clearing system, tracks the rotations of each reusable packaging item in circulation, provides transparency on system performance, and ensures the overall integrity of the system.
TOMRA, or a designated partner, maintains the ordering and delivery system for reusable packaging to retail outlets, as well as the collection of all returned items from the collection points to a centralized cleaning and quality assurance facility.
